Cognitive Science Department at Central European University (we” or usor our”) respects the privacy of our participants (participantor you”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our mobile application (the Application”). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.


IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS THE APPLICATION.


This Privacy Policy does not apply to the third-party mobile store from which you install the Application, which may also collect and use data about you.

We are not responsible for any of the data collected by any such third party.

2. SCIENTIFIC PURPOSE


Coordy is a mobile application for behavioural scientific research on decision-making.

Your participation will allow us to investigate specific aspects of human psychology and behaviour.

You consent to participate in experimental coordination games by clicking «I agree» button in the consent form. Your participation is voluntary and you can withdraw from the experiment at any time by closing the application.

None of your personal details will appear in any published document. Furthermore, it will not be possible to associate your name to any decision or behaviour related to the task.

Our research is supported by the ethical approval of an independent ethics review board. We do not envisage any negative consequences that could arise from your participation in this study.

3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT


Personal Data

When you access the Application with your Google or Apple account, you receive your player ID.

We use your Google or Apple account for the authentication purposes only.

The only personally identifiable information we collect is your email address that you voluntarily give to us when choosing to participate in various activities related to the Application.

It is stored separately from other data to ensure anonymity.


Derivative Data

Information our servers automatically collect via server log files when you access the Application, such as your native actions that are integral to the Application, including the choices you make while interacting with other users.


Data From Surveys

Personal and other information you may provide when responding to surveys.


WE DO NOT COLLECT ANY OTHER DATA FROM NEITHER YOUR MOBILE DEVICE NOR YOUR GOOGLE OR APPLE ACCOUNT.


4. USE OF YOUR INFORMATION


Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Application to:

  1. Create and manage your account.

  2. Compile anonymous statistical data and analysis.

  3. Email you an online voucher, an invitation for the game session or a survey form about your use of the Application.

  4. Solicit support for the Application.


5. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION


We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations.

Your information may be disclosed as follows:


Interactions with Other Users

When you interact with other users of the Application, those users may see your game ID and descriptions of your activity, including choices you make during the game.


Online Vouchers Mailing

After you participated in the study, we will send you an online voucher based on the amount of points you collected during the game. We will share your email address with the company that issues the voucher (Amazon or similar) to make sure you receive it.


Publication in Scientific Literature

The results of the experiment may lead to the publication of statistical data that will under no circumstances refer to you personally.


By Law or to Protect Rights

If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.


6. SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION


All the data collected will be stored on the Microsoft Azure Cloud Server based in the EU in compliance with GDRP. Only authorised Cognitive Department staff members will have access to it. We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorised parties. Therefore, despite our best effort we cannot guarantee complete security if you provide personal information.


7. POLICY FOR CHILDREN


We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If you become aware of any data we have collected from children under age 13, please contact us using the contact information provided below.


8. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY


We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the Last updated” date of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the Application after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted.


9. OPTIONS REGARDING YOUR INFORMATION


Account Information

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, some information may be retained in our files to conduct the statistical analysis, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, and/or comply with legal requirements.
